Japan 99 CD is a completely different mix. Very different from the original 97 version.

This is one of the best adult indie pop albums ever made. Created to be listened in full, the lush arrangements and layered sound is like no other. I challenge you to listen to this album and not walk away wanting more.

Garbage sounding. It's actually shocking how bad this sounds compared to the CD. Luckily I was able to return it for a full refund since most other returned theirs too from what I asked at my local shop.

They’ve admitted there was a problem at the pressing plant and that’s why it sounds terrible. Future pressings will sound good apparently.

I just got my copy and I think it’s not that bad at all. It’s definitely not an “audiophile” release but it’s something I could listen to over and over. I’m a huge fan of the band and I’m glad to have this in the collection.

Even though the pressing sounds a bit linear and I would like a bit more seperation, especially on vocals, the songs are still good and refreshing. We can't really beat-up this vinyl pressing because we really don't have any other vinyl pressings to compare it to. I'm not sure if the original recordings were done on analog tape. But I'm just glad it's part of the vinyl collection now!

I am extremely skeptical and even very cautious about the various comments I read here. I think they are completely unfounded. The master used by John Marshall Smith for the vinyl remaster is the digital master that the band and Bar None got from Atlantic / Epic. John just produced a specific master for the vinyl specs using Bob Ludwig's original mastering. In no way is it a remastering affecting the very foundations of sound (compression in particular). Moreover, the digital reissue is stricly identical to the original master. I do know the sound of the band and i am extremely maniac about it, and i have to say that the one coming out of my Linn LP12 perfectly captures Ivy's intentions.
