Contained in a black and white pop-art "45rpm Singles Style" retro case, The Aeroplane Flies High contains a 44-page illustrated booklet with simplified discography, plus 5 CD singles from the Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness sessions. Three of these are the extended European versions. "1979", "Tonight, Tonight" & "Thirty-Three".
"Bullet With Butterfly Wings", originally a 2-track single, has 5 additional cover tracks - exclusive to this box set.
These are The Cars' "You're All I've Got Tonight", Alice Cooper's "Clones (We're All)", The Cure's "A Night Like This", Missing Persons' "Destination Unknown" & Blondie's "Dreaming".
All content manufactured in the US, the first issue was limited to 200,000 worldwide (circular sticker), followed by a reissue of 250,000 worldwide due to demand (white paper descriptor with barcode).
There is a ten track promo sampler (which does not belong in this master release).

You gotta love that the CD version of a companion piece to a cult album commands higher prices than it's LP counterpart or the boxsets released to celebrate the main album...
And, yes, if Billy was business-savvy (and thinking about his fans) he could have released multiples LPs out of it: the Gravity demos, the Double-Door concert, the concerts comp... but no, let's just release some dumb concert from the least liked era or some random concert from 1992!
Anyway, nice little boxset and, for those like me who were complaining about the lack of booklet in the LP edition, this one has it!

2024 and I picked this legendary box setup. Within 60 seconds the value went from $900 to $500 when I removed the plastic wrap. Unreal 😂 Sound wise it’s spotless. What a collection of b sides. Highlight is Aeroplane flys high. Such a privilege to own such an epic piece of history. A booklet would have been great like the original 90s CD box set but I’m a listener not so much a collector so it’s not really an issue. So good to go back in time when Corgans voice had a softer more melodic tone. I’m obsessed with the Pumpkins and this release is not only my most valued record in my collection- but easily in my top 10 where another two pumpkins records live. I was fooled into buying one of these (not on discogs) believing it to be a Japan export. The discs aren't well manufactured and the last two tracks of both CDs are unplayable. Buyer beware!- Said sadly. What a track really any true pumpkins fan gets why you need this.

Finally opened this after years of keeping it sealed. The audio quality here is far superior to my 2014 MCIS boxset. Rich, full sound with nice low end.
Only gripe would be that I would have loved the original single artwork on each sleeve instead of the fancy, shiny sleeves of this reissue.
Would be incredible to get this deluxe version on vinyl someday. There's so much incredible bonus content that would sound mint on vinyl.
