Banging remix! I can confirm this has absolutely killed it on a number of occasions.

The electric piano sample in 125th street doesn't like mono very much and sounds like its missing on most club rigs!
Intense - Positive Notions / Careless Minds
posted a comment on Intense - Positive Notions / Careless Minds. over 6 years ago
Positive Notions is definitely one of my favorites from this period. Although I'm sure there is another, 'original' version with a sampled sax rather than the live recording on the release I have, possibly due to sample clearance?

This perfectly sums up what was going on with '91/'92 Hardcore and stands out as a personal favorite. Totally agree with https://www.discogs.com/user/Collector_Cave_Guy, the breakdown in this one is a lesson in how to switch up a track. Such wicked... See full review

If you didn't know of these already, I'm sure Dark Age is an update/remix of Ice Age on here: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Aftermath-Essential-Rewindz/master/208710. But the real star is the Digital & Spirit remix on here:... See full review

I'm thinking the same thing myself. Sure I remember another mix of this track without the scratch sample. Maybe the one we're both thinking of is "Different Story" from this EP?

Wax Doctor - A New Direction E.P.
posted a review of Wax Doctor - A New Direction E.P.. over 18 years ago
A truly classic release with three very strong tracks and although released as a hardcore record at the time, the B side is a strictly techno affair. Both 'Herbal Tekno' & 'Protoplasm' sound heavily Detroit & Belgium influenced, similar to productions... See full review
The Hardcore Rhythm Team* - One Love

Apparently (word of mouth from a record store owner in Croydon at the time)... only 1000 vinyls were pressed, and of those 500 were seized due to the illegal Bob Marley sample. Hard to find on its release, harder to find as time goes on.
Sly T & Ollie J - Underground Confusion
posted a review of Sly T & Ollie J - Underground Confusion. over 18 years ago
Absolutely storming old school track, this release has everything you could ever want; beautiful string arrangements (sounding a bit like Dance Conspiracy's 'Dub War') wicked piano riff, strong vocals and pumping beats and bass, and not a hint of... See full review
Dead Calm - Identity (Dom & Roland Remix) / State Of Grace (Dead Calm Remix)
posted a review of Dead Calm - Identity (Dom & Roland Remix) / State Of Grace (Dead Calm Remix). over 18 years ago
The remix of 'Identity' is possibly one of Dom's darkest tracks to date. Sounding much like a pre-cursor to more successful releases such as 'Sonar' and 'Mutant Revisited' (both credited to DJ Trace) but without the production values. If you like it... See full review
Bob James - Nautilus / Take Me To The Mardi Gras
posted a review of Bob James - Nautilus / Take Me To The Mardi Gras. over 18 years ago
What a steal! All the favorite bob james tracks on one vinyl. If only it had 'sign of the times' instead of 'taxi' this would be a perfect release, as it stands it'll just have to be an amazing one. I would suggest that if you see this 12" grab it,... See full review
Seba - Shapeshifter / External Reality
posted a review of Seba - Shapeshifter / External Reality. over 18 years ago
This may or may not be a known fact, but "External Reality" is actually a remix of Amits' "Dual Sense" on Commercial Suicide (SUICIDE 012). When you listen to the two together the similarities are pretty obvious.
DJ Peshay* - Protegé E.P
posted a review of DJ Peshay* - Protegé E.P. over 18 years ago
To me the best tracks seem to roll out effortlessly, and this release does just that. "Warning" simply bleeds with style and sinister overtones but never looses it as a lot of pre D&B hardcore does, a real credit to Peshay. However, if you are after... See full review
Capone - Paradise / Voice
posted a review of Capone - Paradise / Voice. over 18 years ago
This is the Capone track that starts with the riff which sounds like the "Dune" theme from the David Lynch film. To my mind, this along with "Silver Blade", "Still Waters" and "Light Years" are his best tracks to date. Shame he does'nt make them like... See full review
