Reviews
- Edited 16 years agoThis is the opening CD for the label "Canned Beef Records" and while all the other discs are pro-CDR this is the only actual CD so far. It's more of an EP running at over 27 minutes and features 8 tracks. Xdugef, in my mind, can be described as "circuit bending noise" but that doesn't bring up enough of the scope of the range of sounds on this short disc. The opening track "Trolling For Clams In Unlikely Places", track 2 "There's A Fly In My Bowl Of Drano Soup", and track 5 "The Nursery Rhyme Slowly Slides Into The Gapping Maw Of My Adulthood" are very musical sounding as far as noise goes. Both contain soft ambient stretched elements that give them a lot of replay value. Most of the CD sounds experimental and at times soft industrial loops come in as well, track 6 "Mega-bight" is a good example. If you’re familiar with Big City Orchestra this is something you'll enjoy a lot. The artwork fits very well the disc and features a collage of various mannequin heads and figures. Overall this first show by Canned Beef is well done and showcases "a collage of sounds for the mind".
