Reviews
- The Children Of The Privileged West is celebrating its 21st birthday this year, 2014, and what a party it should be given it can lay claim to the following:
The best album I have ever heard
The best album I have ever owned
The best lyric of all time "....you can go to the college, you can go to school, if you ain't got wisdom in your veins you're an educated fool"
The most prophetic songs titles of all time with lyrics to match: 'Children', 'Valium', '21st Century', 'Jab'
(Prince fans, note: more prophetic than '1999')
The best Anarcho-punk album of all time (Crass fans, take note)
The only album I can say that I have listened to year in, year out since it's release from start to finish without skipping a track
The most appropriate production of all time.
This album of social commentary from Brisbane 3 piece, Acid World - which is scarily more relevant now than when it was released - is a masterpiece. It did not get the attention it should have when it was released in 1993 as it was not an inward looking commercially marketable melodic document of self-loathing, which was of course a pre-requisite in those times. Not to get confused, it could be marketable - in wise hands, it is certainly melodic, but it is also honest!
Regardless of where you sit along the political fence, this album is a lesson.
Absolutely brilliant!
