Notes
This is the second edition with replacement cover artwork.
The first edition of this LP features an image from the alchemical text Rosarium philosophorum. The artwork caused a lot of controversy with the cover being replaced within a few months by a second cover, a black & white photo of Cohen. In the UK, an alternate version of the artwork (with a wing added to hide the naughty parts) was featured on the initial release.
"P" stamped in runouts denotes Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman, pressing.

Reviews
- Edited 3 years agoI think this might be my favourite Leonard Cohen album. I've always loved his songwriting skills, but the production on this one is simply fantastic. Producer John Lissaeur was a recent graduate, so it's sheer good fortune that he was able to pair up with Cohen. The undecorated but entirely complementary instrumentation backing Cohen raised his music to a place where he could retain his poetic deftness while actually being a smart musical composer as well. This album is running on all cylinders and brought us more than a handful of classics from Cohen, including my favourite song of his, "I Tried To Leave You".
The US second edition (with new cover) sounds great.
