I first heard the "BROTHERS AND SISTERS" (1973) LP by THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND playing in an old SOUND 2000 RECORD STORE in Lexington , Kentucky near the campus of the University Of Kentucky ,where I was a student and I just had to buy it ! This became my most favorite ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND album . In the 1980's I sold all of my LP's and went to CD's only and I now have the CD of this album .
I have often wondered if the blonde kid on the front of the album is DEREK TRUCKS ! Does anybody know ?

I was very impressed by the sound of this pressing, I originally wanted a Pitman pressing but I was able to get this santa maria pressing super clean NM with 1B on both sides. Side 1 sounds fantastic with a wide sound stage, warm detailed vocals/instruments and great projecting Bass/Drums. Side 2 is the same as 1 except for Jessica which for some reason sounds more compressed than the other tracks, Jessica is my favorite track but has the least impressive sound but it still is very good. Also this pressing was very low noise very few soft clicks or pops so very clean.

I did not have other LP versions to compare it definitely sound better than digital to me, but I did read a collector give an opinion on pressings for Brothers & Sisters so I included his comment:
"Brothers & Sisters (Sterling in the deadwax) with the 'B' matrixes both sides is the best I have heard and again I have heard a lot of them and they all sound muddy! I also have a UK pressing Brothers and Sisters Mine has Special Limited Edition stamped in a gold box on the front cover. Definitely not as good as the US Sterling I have! I have gone through about half a dozen US pressings and the one I currently have is the best sounding so far, as I mentioned it has 1B on both sides, the others I have had were 1D and 1F."

I have an early Capricorn pressing of this that has "PATRICK GALLAGHER" in the runout of Side II twice. Otherwise, it has "STERLING" stamps and an "0", likely indicative of the pressing plant. Does anybody know anything about this?

Anyone know why this pressing seems to for a lot more than others? I was really underwhelmed compared to CPN0111. Is it just the gatefold, or what?
