- Neo-classical metal seems to be all the rage. It is probably one of the prevalent forms of the style called heavy metal, with new bands seemingly coming out of the woodwork every day. Considering the amount of musical skill necessary to play the form, it is hard to believe that there are enough musicians out there to make up these groups. Well, Montany is one of that ilk, sci-fi lyrics and all. In New Born Day they have presented listeners with a middle-of-the-road CD. It definitely has enough musical virtuosity to please all fans of the genre, but it gets quite over the top at times and is a bit generic. The main redeeming factor, though, is the vocals, which sound a lot like Bruce Dickinson at times, lending an Iron Maiden-esque texture to the release. The group also seems to have an above-average skill at handling the obligatory balladic segments ...
