Reviews
- Lovely press, bass is very present without being overpowering, highs are clear and crisp although generally agree with djsgribbs that this is more about the performance than the soundstage itself. Paper inner is kind of nonsense for the money, but the quality of the record and sleeve is definitely there.
- Edited 2 years agoSmooth, quiet and spacious. My copy in hand has a few pops and ticks even after a wet clean (as D1119 noted poly-sleeves would have been nice here). I feel like these are the type that will work out after a few cleans/listens. Otherwise no issues and more than acceptable reissue. While not mind-blowing in soundstage quality (the performance itself ventures into that territory though), this sounds about as good as I've heard the album and the pressing is much cleaner than other reissues out there. At times I tend to feel like the Dave Cheppa cut has some moments that are a little more rich (Where Pathways Meet being one example), but the pressing issues by Rainbo make that version essentially unlistenable. This one is very solid, consistent and close to flawless. Also, I've heard the Box reissue by Strut which doesn't have the fidelity suggested by a 45RPM disc... they didn't take advantage of the format and went for the double disc (with unnecessary bonus tracks) as a marketing gimmick. This one is cut nearly as loud and tighter. The other box set feels like 45RPM on cruise control.
With originals at unobtainable level.... for now this should be your go to copy for Lanquidity on wax. Extremely enjoyable and will get repeated spins. - Edited 2 years agoLovely copy. Wish it came with anti-static sleeve. Jacket feels just a tiny bit flimsy, and mine came with creases from shipping. Fantastic sound and color, though.
