- Honestly, Breakbeat Sushi is mid at best compared to the B-side which is absolutely phenomenal and 100% worth the pickup here. It is flat out just silly good.
- if I'm not mistaken this track samples G Double E - Fire When Ready..?
which was the track I was looking for alllllllllllll along - Be careful, the track that you can find on youtube under "breakbeat sushi" is not the actual track!
BTW super record!
ps: if someone knows the real name of that track please contact me! - This track came into being live on stage in Italy, at the MAFFIA night club, when Steve Blood (of wide receiver) mixed three tracks together and all the elements - a break, a 303 riff, a dub bass line, a ragga chant, and the keyboard sample from Japan's 'Quiet Life' - fused into a whole, capturing the energy of the moment in one aural dish of freshly served raw beats. They worked so well that on his return home he went straight into the studio and cut a mix at 3am which became the orginal 12" mix.
Flip the vinyl over and you get the Eric B/EPMD vocal-sampling funky house groover beloved of many a list dj's of the time.
Unmissable!
