Millie Tizzard – Oblivion

“It’s been a mind bending year. I’ve had deep dives into despair but also had transformative forward progress.
It has been the making of many of us.

Naarm/ Melbourne has been in one of the longest and most restrictive lockdowns in the world, and the weight of this has been difficult to carry. Myself and others close to me have worked in the service industry during this time and the “grin and bear it” or “the show must go on” mentality became exhausting when repeatedly encountering the negligent public.

My deepest and most sincere thanks to the health workers and grocery store employees across the world, and of course, all others who continued to operate during this time. They faced some unfathomable challenges and experienced human behaviour the likes that one should not have to.

We are not yet on the other side of this. I hope one day it will be but a dull ache in our memories, but until then, we must continue to treat each other with a practiced compassion, patience and respect. Life is not the same anymore.

To those who lost someone, something or everything; to those on the front lines, to those who carried on and to those who couldn’t.
