Reviews
- Edited 2 years agoI've known this recording since I first began learning jazz 8n the late 80s. Then, I found it confusing, if not obtuse.
Listening these days with more mature jazz ears, it is truly a masterpiece by a brilliant composer.
Charles Mingus does not get the credit he deserves.
This record is best experienced all at once, un interrupted.
Soundwise, the mix is clean, but it is apparent the source material is digital. WaxTime is often a gamble, but if you know up front you cannot expect a true analog experience, it is sometimes a fair choice.
I have not been able to find a clean older pressing of this record, so decided to compromise.
