Purely Fizzycal

Purely Fizzycal

Profile:

Purely Fizzycal is a two member British Soul group consisting of north Londoner Trisha Langley who met south Londoner Ashant Kamat initially in the the mid 1980s at Tin Pan Alley Studios, while Ash was working at Rod Argent's keyboard shop & running UK soul-focussed zine Soul Trade, they quickly began working together. Handling the programming & production, Ash says his inspiration came from a mixture of London pirate radio sounds & the US-based sounds of Kashif, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, etc. While Trisha's vocals & melodies were influenced by growing up listening to her parents reggae records, plus her brother's taste for the likes of Brothers Johnson, Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly, The Isley Brothers, & a little Lovers Rock such as Janet Kay - which, together with Ash's raw drum machine sounds, bears all the hallmarks for this uniquely UK take on soul with singles put out on their own independent Pure Impact Productions label & later SRT
