Zdrój Jana

Polish rock band existed in the years 1966-1972 and presenting shows on the border of performance and cabaret, performing mainly in the Krakow club "Pod Ręką". He introduced dirty, rough rock with elements of psychedelic music, as well as ballads (folk and not only) to the Polish music scene, using a wide variety of instruments. In October 1970, Zdrój Jana recorded a few songs on Polish Radio, but he was not happy with them because they turned out to be acoustically bland and did not reflect the true sound of the band. Song entitled "Kiedy będę żałował", for several weeks was on the first place of the Polish Radio Channel III Hit List. In December of the same year, the band performed in Sala Kongresowa next to [Invalid Artist] and Niebiesko Czarni. After the band was officially suspended in 1972, the musicians of Zdrój Jan took part in creating illustrative music for educational and feature films directed by Sławomir Idziak. In 1974, Ryszard Antoniszczak made an animated film "Żegnaj paro!", In the aesthetics of Beatlesian "Yellow Submarine", in which the narration was "Ballada o dziadku kolejofilu" recorded by Zdrój Jana. In 1977, Antoniszczak created another film with the band's music, entitled "Jak zbrzydło powidło". Band was reactivated and operated in 2009-2011. Wojciech "Wojcek" Czern, founder of the OBUH Records record company, offered the band to record their longed-for, debut album we which in the end will sound like Zdrój Jana wants it. It was released in 2011 under the title "CD". Jacek Ukleja and Marek Wliczyński provided new songs, and some older ones were also arranged. The texts and graphic design of the publisher's cover were prepared by Ryszard Antoniszczak. Until then group managed to gain the status of a legend of the Polish rock underground, becoming an inspiration for various underground bands. Despite the passage of four decades, musicians have managed to keep the authentic spirit of contestation in their new recordings. It is a real phenomenon and authentic emotions.
