gimp., four young natives from directly beneath the sunny South Florida skies, are a unique face among their local scene. Combining the best elements of rock, funk, and jazz, the band produce crafty, slick songs that balance a love of torsion-like timings with energetic, accessible rock.
Second bio:
Formed in West Palm Beach, Florida in 2001, The Better Gimp evolved out of four high school guys' desire to form a rock band after jamming together in their jazz band class. The band members are Bryan Smith, age 21, (vocals), Reed Berin, age 19, (bass), Bobby Madrid, age 20, (drums) and Jon Marques, (guitar), age 20.
Local recognition of the band's unique and quirky style developed rapidly. The Better Gimp began making tracks with their individual sound. After their successful performances throughout Florida and winning numerous "battle of the bands", The Better Gimp's eclectic mix, innovative style and imaginative musings took hold. The Better Gimp emerged from Avalon Studios during the summer of 2003 with their five song EP Everything Is Emo. Their musical efforts were warmly received. The Better Gimp's diverse musical influences create a kaleidoscope of musical forms and styles. Ther Better Gimp brings something to the plate. The Better Gimp's Lyrics are about life and music as a way of life. Their musical moods and creative wavelengths emanate from sources across the spectrum - Miles Davis to Faith No More, Stevie Wonder to The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc.
